Perspective Book Series: A Spoiler-Free Summary

Perspective series books

I’m a writerer, not a talkerer. So, when I’m at an event as a guest author or a vendor, or even talking to a friend, and I’m asked what the books in my Perspective series are about, I don’t seem to have much more than a deer-in-headlights stare to offer… 😶

What is the Perspective book series about?

You’d think I’d be able to tell you exactly what my books are about. After all, I wrote them! Okay, I co-wrote them, but I’ve still been working with Amanda Giasson on these novels for more than two decades. What could be easier than an elevator pitch about the biggest obsession project of my life?

But nope, the best I can do is give a blank stare, followed by a bunch of stuttering that will, at best, contain some main keywords like “fantasy fiction,” “alternating perspective”, and “strong female characters.” Great…🤦‍♀️Do you feel like an expert in my series now that you know all that?

Here’s the scoop, spoiler free.

Who are the Perspective series authors?

Amanda Giasson and Julie B. Campbell. We’re best friends and Canadian authors from Ontario.

Fun fact, we chose the order in which our names are displayed based on “rareness”. There are ten bajillion Julie Campbells in the world, including one famous author (of the Trixie Beldon series). Finding my name in that ocean, even with my big B, seemed much harder to SEO than Amanda Giasson.

What kind of story is the Perspective series?

It’s a genre-blending fantasy adventure filled with magic, political intrigue, and powerful character growth, told from two alternating perspectives.

What is the Perspective book series about?

Two strangers — one from our world, one born in a “perfect” fantasy society — meet under terrifying circumstances. Welcome to Qarradune! A land of heroic Knights, elite Warriors, rigid social divides, and shimmering illusion.

When the gentle façade of Syliza and the powerful military of Kavylak begin to unravel, Megan and Irys will learn that survival demands more than courage. Megan Wynters, a Canadian who doesn’t know how she arrived there, and Irys Godeleva, a noble born into the gilded cage of Syliza, collide with forces that’ll test everything they thought they knew.

Perspective is a series of epic scope: friendship forged under fire, relentless villains, the courage it takes to redefine who you are, and a deeply imagined world where what you believe may be your biggest enemy.

What is the world of Qarradune like?

Qarradune is a richly imagined fantasy world, with its own history, politics, and magic systems. The series explores various regions, cultures, and power structures, ranging from imperial courts to shadowy rebels.

Who are the main characters of the Perspective fantasy fiction series?

The world of Qaradune is filled with fascinating and diverse cultures and characters. That said, the story is told from the alternating points of view of Megan Wynters and Irys Godeleva.

Megan Wynters

A modern young woman from Earth, more precisely, Canada. She tends to be sarcastic, skeptical, and stubborn, but is mainly sweet, friendly, and accepting. Her journey is about freedom, agency, and learning how to trust herself.

Here are some spoiler-free details. For more, get started on the series, which starts with Love at First Plight:

  • She is suddenly transported to Qarradune under mysterious circumstances.
  • She has no idea how to get back home again but would definitely like that answer.
  • She is thrust into political and magical conflicts she doesn’t understand, while trying to figure out who she is on Qarradune and how to survive there.

Megan’s point of view is written by Amanda Giasson.

Irys Godeleva

A native of Qarradune, raised in a sheltered, wealthy, and restricted environment in the country of Syliza. She’s clever, proper, and caring, but also fiery, sly, and stubborn. She has grown up with expectations that never quite fit her. Her story involves identity, power, and unexpected leadership.

Here are some spoiler-free details. For more, check out the books, which are available in paperback, hardcover, and ebook.

  • We first meet her as a prisoner of an enemy nation.
  • Longing for freedom and meaning, she breaks away from her past and is forced into a rapidly changing, often dangerous world.
  • Her journey is as much about self-discovery as it is about navigating shifting alliances and hidden dangers.

Irys’ point of view is written by me, Julie B. Campbell.

How does the series’ dual perspective work?

Each chapter alternates between Megan’s and Irys’ point of view, offering readers two sides of the same world. While they begin on separate paths, their stories occasionally intersect, creating emotional and narrative depth.

What are the series themes?

  • Identity & transformation
  • Freedom vs control
  • Power, politics, and rebellion
  • Friendship, loyalty, and betrayal
  • Magic, memory, and destiny

What are the Perspective series books, and in what order should you read them?

Love at First Plight (Book One)

The world and characters are introduced. Megan arrives in Qarradune. Irys begins to push back against her confined life. Their destinies begin to unfold in parallel.

Second Wind (Book Two)

Both women grow into their roles, facing greater danger and responsibility. Secrets are revealed, and the stakes increase.

Third Time’s a Charmer (Book Three)

Physical and emotional consequences of earlier choices come to the surface. Characters deepen. Conflicts escalate.

So On and So Fourth (Book Four)

Tensions rise as alliances are tested and enemies draw closer. Megan and Irys are now central players in events far beyond what either could have imagined.

We’re making some serious progress. The first draft is complete, and we’re pushing forward as fast as we can. The series is ongoing and will continue to develop the main arcs.
